Rockin' Rooftops Success!

Dwelling Place's annual fundraiser, Rockin' Rooftops, took place Thursday September 15, 2016. Friends, supporters, sponsors, board members and staff came out to The Kent County Club in support of Dwelling Places's continued efforts over the past 35 years. Attendees danced the night away to 60's and 70's inspired music, while enjoying food and candy brought back from the era. On top of all the fun, Dwelling Place was able to raise over $95,000 to support  community development and resident engagement and support services.

NeighborWorks Learning Institute

This month four of our Dwelling Place staff persons attended the national NeighborWorks conference in Detroit Michigan. Joining over 1,800 Community Development staff members from across the country, our staff attended classes on Neighborhood Revitalization, Asset Management, Community Building and Engagement. Connecting with community leaders from across the country we are excited to see what great ideas they implement in our communities.

Strengthening Support Services

CEO Denny Sturtevant accepts a $10,000 gift from Spectrum Health Healthier Communities to support housing assistance. Dwelling Place will look to strengthen support services initiatives - programs designed to offer tools for residents to gain life-long self-sufficiency. Programs under the support services umbrella include Cooking Class for Better Health, Personal Money Management and Community Gardening. Dwelling Place thanks Spectrum Health for recognizing efforts in the areas of access to health care, healthier families and connecting to community resources.
