Dwelling Place is in the running for a LocalMotion "Change Agent Award" tomorrow evening at the Local First Annual Meeting and LocalMotion Awards! This award is presented to a locally owned business or organization that is growing successfully and can be accredited for revitalizing a neighborhood or business corridor.

Dwelling Place would like to thank Troy Zapolski for his years of service on the Dwelling Place Board of Directors. On Wednesday, January 9, at the board meeting, Troy was given a plaque by the president of the Board of Directors, Larry Titley.
 
Troy has served on the Dwelling Place Board of Directors for 10 years and also also held a few office terms including, most recently treasurer and chair of the finance committee.
 

Federal Low Income Housing Tax Credits fuel expansion of downtown Grand Rapids

GRAND RAPIDS — If you look past the gleaming facades and sparkling new windows of just about every major housing project launched in downtown Grand Rapids over the past five years, you will find Low Income Housing Tax Credits (LIHTC) at their foundations.
 
But observers say Grand Rapids probably can’t — and shouldn’t — rely exclusively on the federal program for continued growth of housing alternatives in its core city.
